Repeat Prescriptions

You can request your repeat prescriptions:

  • In person
  • By post (please allow for postal delays)
  • Online via SystmOnline please click here.
  • NHS APP please click here.

Please note you cannot order prescriptions over the phone or by email.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.

This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up. Please note this isn't applicable to our dispensary.

Click for more information about electronic prescribing services.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to speak to a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Dispensary Services

If you live more than a mile from a chemist, you can collect your medication from our dispensary.

All prescriptions issued are for 28 days of medication, other than a limited number of items which come in three month packs, such as the contraceptive pill.

In order to help reduce the number of journeys you need to make to the surgery please use one of the ordering methods outlined above.

To further reduce your journeys and help in the efficient running of the dispensary, please endeavour to order all your monthly requirements at the one time.

Please be aware, only items prescribed by a clinician working at Measham Medical Unit can be dispensed here. We are unable to process prescriptions issued elsewhere. Please take these prescriptions to a local Pharmacy.

Collecting Your Medication from our Dispensary

We request 3 working days (72 working hours) to process your prescription request. Please be advised that 72 hours is the time it takes for your prescription to be issued, signed by the doctor and sent to your nominated pharmacy or dispensary and for them to dispense your medication.

Whilst we are able to dispense most items within the 72 hour time frame, during extremely busy times, or during periods of staff shortages due to sickness, we may need longer. You are now able to order a repeat prescription up to 10 days early so please give us a little longer where possible.

Please note if you are collecting controlled medication for yourself or someone else, you will be required to show YOUR photographic ID. Unfortunately, we are unable to hand out any controlled medications without this.

SystmOnline or the NHS app not letting you order your medications?

If you are unable to order your medications due to SystmOnline displaying a future due date, it means that it is not yet due. The NHS app will show you when you can order your nexy prescription.

Medication can be ordered 10 days in advance via the online apps.

Ordering Early For Holidays

In order to prevent over-prescribing of any medication, our system keeps track of when and how much medication is prescribed for each patient. It will not therefore routinely allow early ordering of prescriptions.
However we do understand that there are some occasions, for example if you are going away on holiday, when you may need your prescription early. If this is the case please call our reception team so that we can try and arrange a prescription for you.

Dispensary Prescription Delivery Service

How our Delivery Service Works

Our aim for the delivery service is to deliver the medication you need, when you need it and free of charge to our patients who are 60 years of age or over and this is how we will do it:

  1. Delivery to all patients who qualify for free of charge medication providing the normal delivery procedures are followed.
  2. Deliveries will be made every 28 days, generally on a Tuesday or Thursday, during the morning normally between 08:30 – 13:30hrs.
  3. A delivery timetable will be issued each year which will show the date of delivery for each month. There may be times when we can't deliver on the 28th day as it falls too close to a bank holiday, in this instance we will do a double delivery on the previous month so you will receive 2 months worth of medication.
  4. Returning of completed repeat prescriptions:
  • Each time you receive a delivery please give a completed prescription request to the delivery person (only tick boxes next to the items you need – leave others blank) as we need to plan ahead;
  • If you do not have a delivery in any month, then please remember to post or drop off a completed repeat prescription to MMU for the next delivery (please ensure we have the repeat script at least 2 weeks before the delivery date); PLEASE NOTE, NO MEDICATION WILL BE ISSUED OR DELIVERED WITHOUT A COMPLETED MEDICATION REQUEST FORM.
  • If one month you collect your medication from MMU rather than have a delivery then please hand in, or post, a completed repeat prescription for your next delivery.
  • Please let us know if you will either be on holiday or not at home for any delivery.

We will normally only leave your prescription with you or an adult family member, however, we can leave it with another adult as long as you authorize this in advance. We may request a signature if given to someone other than yourself. In any event, we must hand the medicine to a person and we cannot leave it elsewhere, or post it through your letter box.

If you are not in when we call, then we will leave a card and you may collect it from Measham Medical Unit.

If you have any problems getting to the door or accepting the delivery, then please let us know in advance. We will always try to fulfil your delivery needs.

PLEASE NOTE, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO DELIVER TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE PRESCRIPTIONS FULFILLED BY OUR DISPENSARY.
