Important information regarding the implementation of our new telephone system
Important information
Our new phone system will go live tomorrow.
We ask for your patience whilst both us at the surgery and you as patients adapt to the new system.
There will be a number of differences you will experience when calling the surgery.
Perhaps most significantly, from a certain position in the queue, the system will offer the option to request a call back rather than holding in the call queue. If you choose this option, the system will automatically allocate your call back to a receptionist at the same time your call would have been answered if you had chosen to hold in the queue. If calling from a mobile phone, please ensure that you keep your telephone with you and you are in an area with a signal. Please note, this option is not available for calls being made from a withheld number.
The messages you hear when calling the surgery will sound different on the new system.
We have added a variety of options to streamline our incoming calls.
These options are as follows:
- Appointments
- Prescription enquiries – please note we are unable to accept verbal prescription requests over the telephone
- Reception enquiries
- Test results – Please note this line is open between the hours of 2pm-6pm daily. We politely ask patients not to call for test results before this time.
- Dispensary – Available between 8am-1pm and 2pm-6pm daily.
- Secretaries - Available between 9am-5pm daily
From Monday 10th June, our appointment line will open earlier at 8.00am
We thank you in advance for your patience during this transitional period

Share your recent experience of healthcare at your GP practice
If you are registered with a GP practice in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland and are aged 16 or over, you are invited to share your recent experiences of healthcare provided by your GP practice, in a new local survey.
The survey asks about your experiences of contacting your practice, making an appointment and the care you received, and it will help practices to understand how services could be improved.
You can fill in the questionnaire online at www.bit.ly/LLRGPSurvey or you can collect a copy from your GP practice. The closing date is 23.59pm on Sunday 10 March 2024.
All GP practices work in new ways nowadays to make sure everyone gets the right care. If you would like more information about the changes visit www.getintheknow.co.uk
We are very proud to announce we have been awarded Active Practice status by the Royal College of General Practitioners.
The team headed up by our practice champion Luke Barnett have worked really hard to achieve this status and you may have seen some of our team out on a short walk for our "walk your break" initiative.
What is an Active Practice?
The Active Practices Charter is an initiative by The Royal College of GPs and Sport England to inspire GP practices to commit to increasing activity and reducing sedentary behaviour in both staff and patients.
We are all aware of the benefits of being more active so to prove to patients that we really do mean what we say, we took the steps to become accredited. Luke, who works in our reception team, has really encouraged us all to get out walking and has been instrumental in achieving this accreditation.
If you would like to find out any further information about any of the Active Together groups that are available in our area, please call into the surgery to check out our notice board and/or ask to speak with Luke. Luke works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

WE ARE PROUD TO BE A C CARD VENUE
January - Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
January is cervical cancer awareness month.
22nd-28th January is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.
Together #WeCan work towards a day where cervical cancer is a thing of the past.
But there is still more to do…
Did you know Sweden is likely to eliminate cervical cancer before 2030, with Australia not far behind them? NHS England has pledged to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040, but we want to reach this target even sooner, and we want to make sure there is the support and resources to make this happen.
HPV vaccinations, cervical screening, and treatment for cell changes can all help prevent cervical cancer, and we want to programmes to be as effective and accessible as possible. We're calling for the Government to commit to eliminating cervical cancer, and to commit to providing the investment and resourcing needed for all the services that help to prevent cervical cancer. Together, #WeCan end cervical cancer.
Cervical screening is offered to women from age 25 every 3 years upto age 49, then every 5 years upto age 64.
To book your cervical smear or find out if you are due, please call our reception team on 01530 270933. We know our phone lines can be very busy, but please keep trying. They are generally quieter in the afternoon.
